Apple's MacBook Pro sets new standards every year in the laptop world. Apple's MacBooks are always in demand in the professional and creative fields as these laptops of premium design and performance offer exceptional value even at premium prices.
Apple recently announced the 2023 editions of their MacBook Pro laptops in 14-inch and 16-inch models. Apart from this, the Mac Mini and M2 Max processors with Apple M2 Pro were also unveiled. The connectivity options of MacBooks have been upgraded and the price of Mac Mini has come down. Let's know the details about these newly announced Apple products.
New MacBook Pro Laptop
Powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, the MacBook Pro will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch versions. The new chips offer 20% faster CPU performance and 30% faster GPU performance than the previous generation M1 variant. Apple has three preset options for both sizes that buyers can purchase. If you want, you have the opportunity to choose the processor, memory and storage options according to your convenience.
Both new processors again have multiple options. The M2 Pro chip will be available in 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU and 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU setups. On the other hand, the M2 Max has 12-core CPU and 30-core GPU and 12-core CPU and 38-core GPU options.
The new processors also feature unified memory configuration. The M2 Pro has 16GB and 32GB RAM options. On the other hand, the M2 Max will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 96GB RAM options. Besides, built-in flash storage options can be selected from 512GB to 8TB. 16GB memory and 512GB storage are the cheapest variants.
The 2023 model of the MacBook Pro has improved battery life thanks to a new processor. The 14-inch MacBook model can enjoy 18 hours of video playback and 12 hours of wireless web browsing on a single full charge. On the other hand, the 16-inch model offers 22 hours of video playback and 15 hours of wireless web browsing.
The new MacBook Pro models will have improved connectivity features. Faster wireless connectivity is available here courtesy of WiFi 6E. Again they have been upgraded to HDMI 2.1 standard which will support 8K 60Hz and 4K 240Hz.
The MacBook Pro 14-inch will be available in $1999, $2499 and $3099 variants. On the other hand, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will be available in $2499, $2699, and $3499 variants. All models can be configured through the Apple Online Store.
The new Mac mini
Let's also know about the new Mac Mini. Mac Mini with M2 and M2 Pro processors are available now. The old Intel variant has been discontinued and the price of the base variant has been reduced to $599.
The Mac Mini with M2 processor is priced at $599 and $799 for the 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU variants. Both models have 8GB of unified memory, which can be manually configured as 16GB and 24GB.
The $1,299 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU model includes the M2 Pro, which is also available in a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU variant. 16GB is the unified memory base, but there is an option to choose up to 32GB. Storage options are available up to 2TB on the M2 models and up to 8TB on the M2 Pro models. There is no option for the Mac Mini M2 Max model.
Newer Mac mini models have WiFi 6e. The M2 Pro models, on the other hand, have a new HDMI 2.1 port as well as four Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the M2 model only has two ports.
Previous Intel variants have been discontinued as already known. This means that the Mac Pro is currently the only product in the Apple line-up that uses an Intel processor. But there's no word yet on when Apple's silicon-based Mac Pro will arrive. Although Apple said that this transition will be completed by 2022, it has not yet been possible by 2023. The Mac Pro is expected to come with the M2 Ultra chipset this year.
